A thread for everyone who appreciates the Heineken Cup being back on terrestrial television and especially on RTE this season. I’ve heard so much chatter about it again from people with a more passing interest in the game than some of us and it proves the old adage “out of sight, out of mind.” This final seems to have a far higher profile around Ireland than last year or the 2018 and 2019 finals. Can only be good for the profile and ultimately the bank balances of the provinces.

Yeah definitely - taking it off free to air is a great way to kill of the grassroots of your game

Big showcase matches like this should be broadcast free to as many people as possible. No better way to advertise the game

Don't forget it is live on ITV1 as well. Good news for viewers in N. Ireland as it will be geo blocked on RTE2 for those using Freeview.

Enjoy this time - it’s a very short two year deal and the rumour is, whether it ends up being true or not, that when the rights go out to tender again they’ll come in a bundle with the URC and PRL with the aim of making one broadcaster “the home of club rugby”.
