    Hi All,

Some advice please to start and perhaps some recommendations on a solution?

I have a debut carbon turntable with a project phono box preamp connected to the rca line level input of the audioengine hd3 powered speakers. However there is no audio coming from speakers. Did I make a complete noob mistake and I'm missing an amplifier in the chain?

Advice and recommendations are most welcome.

    Thanks

    Hi Jayneemac.

    Many thanks for the post.

The carbon would connect into the Phono box via its RCA cables and then from the phono box into the RCA input on the back of the HD3 speakers.

Just make sure that you are set to the correct input on the speakers.

Do you have anything else you can try through the RCA input on the speakers to check that they are in fact working.

Also just to check that the phono box is also plugged into the mains.

The speakers are active so there is no need for an amplifier as it is built into the speakers.

    Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Kenny, thank you for the reply.

I think the problem might be the phono box , as I tried with a Sony record player with a phono/line switch.

Running the sony in phono mode through the preamp there is no audio. Switching to line out and direct rca into the speakers, and it's all good.

So this would suggest the phono box is a dud :(

I think I have to source another pre-amp?

    Hi Jayneemac.

Yeah that does sound like the phono stage has given up the ghost unfortunately.

We have the Project Phono MM priced at 79€ delivered.
