Samsung phone not charging

I have a Samsung A53 5G which I bought about a year ago. A few weeks ago my phone suddenly started giving me warnings about my charging port being wet and it kept buzzing when I put my charger into it. My phone has been nowhere near water. It wasn't even raining the week of this problem arising, in case it was minor moisture from rain on my pocket.

Every now and then this warning would come up, but then would go away randomly. I was able to get my phone charged in between these warnings and after maybe a week or so the warning never showed again.

About 6 weeks later I plugged in my phone to charge it and realised the symbol never came up. It wouldn't charge at all. I had a work around for the first day where if my phone was off and then I plugged it in, it would charge. Then that technique stopped working. All that would happen is that the phone would light up with a grey circle with a lightning bolt in the middle, but no charging progress percentage.

For some reason it started charging again and has been fine since, but now the problem has reoccurred! I'm worried that this time my phone will completely die before it decides to fix itself, or maybe it won't work again.

Has anyone encountered this problem before or have any ideas of a fix? I'm considering sending it back to Samsung but this would be a major hassle and risk as I may lose all my locally saved information as well as not having a phone for a while. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

I've tried all those and it didn't help at the time.

Since my post, I've managed to get it to charge. I started using a different cable which seems to have helped, even though that older cable still charges other phones.

I've a feeling it may stop working again randomly and that I'm just lucky that it works right now.

What happens if you send your phone back for repairs? Does all your data get wiped?

Try cleaning the charging port with a wooden toothpick. It has happened to me with at least three Samsung phones of various models, that lint or dirt gets into the charging port and causes issues with recharging. Cleaning with a wooden toothpick (definitely nothing metal) resolved the issue every time.

if you send your phone in for repair you can ask them not to delete any data, you can plug the charging cable into a microsoft windows os , PC or,laptop , and copy your data, images,mp3s, videos to a sdcard or a folder on the pc, click on my computer, device ,32gig , samsung ,

the cable must have one end thats usb A ,that fits into a pc usb port.

eg usb micro or usb c to usb A cable .

TURN on phone before plugging it into the pc

That's excellent, thanks for that info. I'll transfer my files and get the phone repaired.

I used Sony Companion program free download 7meg to copy files to a pc running windows 7 os

It's designed to copy files from android to pc or laptop with windows OS, therse no way I know to copy app data. But you can copy music images videos mp3s mp4s photos to a pc or an sdcard

Write a letter to the shop please do not delete any data from phone when fixing it

Do not do a system reset without telling me in advance signed your name my email is .. my phone no is ...
