House painting question

    Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice and recommendations please.

I plan to paint the house i rent as I've noticed some paint chipping and some small hairline cracks in the ceiling. The house is over 16 years old I'd say and we're in it about 7 years and never painted it and I'd say it wasn't painted before that either.

Just a bit of back story. Our boiler started to give trouble in September 2022, radiators not fully hot to touch and the boiler was cutting out. We had a plumber do a service on it and it was fine until end of November when it finally gave up. We got a new boiler in December and since it was installed the house a been noticeably warming than before and the radiators are hot to the touch so I'd say there was an issue a for a while we just didn't notice it. But since the new boiler was put in I've noticed 1 or 2 small hairline cracks in the ceiling in some rooms not all and paint chipping in the corners, I've attached some photos.

My thinking is with the house being a lot warmer now it has made the plasterboard expand and contract causing some cracks and the paint to chip would that make sense?

I'd like some advice on what to do with the cracks should i put polyfiller over them before painting? If so what type is good to use?

For painting the house i was thinking to start with a primer layer then paint over it would that be the right thing to do?
