Hi, I have 70sq m of office carpet that I want to take up. It is glued onto a concrete floor and when I try to pull up the bottom part of the carpet is staying on the floor. Is there any handy way of getting it all up? It's like this stuff in the photo Thanks

You could try a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the glue.

You can use a tool like this to lift the carpet tiles and scrape the bulk of the glue off the floor. You can get them in different sizes.

You can hire these. Mainly for tiles but will work for carpet, vinyl etc. too.

Nice flat garden spade I saw suggested elsewhere, you'll have to get in under them and something flat like that could be quicker than a smaller item. I had to take up a vinyl floor stuck to concrete and it was basically a chisel hammered underneath to get it loose, the glue though washed off with hot water and didn't need any fancy solvent once the floor was up.

Cheers folks, I'll go at it Saturday n see how I get on with whatever stuff I have at the minute. I'll run to hire shop or screwfix if progress is limited! Ta

    Probably too late,

best option is to get hook blades for Stanley knife and cut carpet into 100/150mm strips and pull up by hand and scrapers.

When I was taking up the vinyl I did cut it into sections, 2 tiles x4 as handy enough it had a grid pattern but not a hope could you pull them up even after getting up a bit, it was stuck firm!
