General engine management system (EPC) warning light popped up (Audi A4, 1.8T, 2007). Goes like this:

    • Car reluctant to start. Give it a turn for a few seconds. Stop, give it a second turn, she starts
    • EPC light on
    • Car idles at around 1100rpm (normal about 800rpm)
    • Lumpy sounding engine at idle

If you stop the car and restart (even say immediately after the initial start)

    • EPC light stays off
    • Idles as normal
    • Idles smoothly, as normal

Any idea what that might be?

EPC light is not an engine management light. Engine management light is a yellow engine symbol. EPC light says EPC in yellow writing

EPC light usually points to something electrical, and turning the car on/off almost always solves the issue.

Engine management light could be anything, and usually won’t go away by jumping restarting the car.

Just bring the car to a mechanic.
