Would love to be able to equalize the sound in my TV, I turn it up to hear the quite talking scenes but then an explosion or something happens and I'm affriad I'm nisturbing the neighbours.

Any ideas, it's an LG smart TV

There are settings for raising the dialogue level

There’s usually an audio compression type setting on audio equipment and maybe tvs. Used for late night viewing it reduces the impact of louder noises but increases tge volume of lower audio, so keeps audio in a standard enough range so you can listen with the volume down. Check in audio settings maybe.

Turn off cinema mode in the audio settings as well, try the various options till you find one that suits, I have a new LG OLED and the sound is terrible so I use a soundbar and subwoofer

Have an LG TV. It has a range of sound options including "clear voice".

Also, Bluetooth headphones are very useful if you don't want to annoy others..
