Hi what BMW engine would be the best looking at a 320/ 520D around 2009 - 2012

Would like an automatic for a change but are the older model better in manual?

    Thanks for any advice

They are all pretty much the same engine with the same inherent problems. Most will be on at least their second chain at this point with the chance of needing another one. Blown turbos are another common problem on them. These cars are now at the age and budget where their owners either drive them until they go bang or try to offload them to someone clueless before hand. Best avoided unless your tired of having money sitting in your bank account.

OP, this is about the 3rd thread you have started in the last week or two and you have been given some good advice in those threads on what type of car to buy as a stop gap and what type not to. You were advised to buy something Japanese of a petrol flavour but you seem hell bent on buying something that will potentially cost you money to keep on the road despite it being just a stop gap. Not having a go but it's a bit pointless starting another thread asking for advice if your not going to take it onboard imo.
