Loft legs for attic flooring, any experiences?

So we're looking at doing some attic flooring for extra storage

Currently we've about 300mm of rock wool above the rafters, so just screwing OSB sheets down isn't an option

Been looking at the options and came across these loft legs

The price seems roughly comparable to getting some 9x2 timber and constructing a frame, and installation seems a bit simpler too

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience, positive or negative with it?

Also, I've noticed my insulation run parallel to the rafters (picture below shows this)

I've heard it should be perpendicular to the rafters to avoid insulation gaps. Is that the case? I could probably pull up the existing rolls and turn them easily enough

Looking around I'm kind of liking the idea of this product

It's a bit pricier at £160 including delivery, and not including the floorboards, but it seems a bit more idiot proof

Idiot proof is important where I'm concerned 🤣

Correct. That was the first thing that I noticed in that photo.

You would normally have insulation between the rafters and then another layer perpendicular above.

There's a good few types of those loft leg type products on the market and they do work - handy enough job depending on your attic

I installed the loft legs and tongue in groove boards a few years ago, got them from b and q and they always seem to have them on offer, super simple to install with a cordless drill and a few screws

Thanks folks, looks like I'd better plan to fix up the insulation while I'm doing the flooring
