Stena have finally realised that theres a niche market for people with pets out there to cater for!!

Swedish ferry company, Stena Line has announced that it will introduce 70 new pet-friendly cabins across its Irish Sea routes this year.

A new pet lounge is also set to open next month onboard its Stena Superfast service operating from Belfast to Cairnryan, the ferry company said.

Pet cabins are now available to book on the Dublin-Holyhead, Rosslare-Fishguard and Belfast-Liverpool routes.

Who needs a cabin on an Irish sea route anyway?

youve obviously never got up at 2 or 3am to drive to Dublin port with kids asleep, who then wake up just as you are getting onto the ferry and as you struggle to stay awake they are full of life and want to wander the ferry.

Fine, thats good with a 14 year old, but with a 14month old.... not fun

Or, even on your own, have you ever got the 2am ferry from Fishguard or Pembroke to Rosslare in the dead of night with a 3hour+ journey when you get off the ferry ahead of you, for which you might need/ want some bit of decent sleep before attempting / the peace of mind that you can sleep with a locked door and not get your stuff robbed ?

    Obviously not.

Anyone who wants a bit of a rest or separation from fellow self loading cargo. Once a month I used to drive from London to Dublin. Not only did a book a cabin, I generally booked a suite type cabin as it had a kettle. Great way to get a nap after a 5 hour drive.
