    Need to replace battery in my 2017 S213 E-Class - OEM is Varta 580901080D852 - 80Ah

Space is tight so would like to purchase above like for like. Was about to purchase from amazon.de but terrible reviews re. arriving damaged so not risking it.

Someone here mentioned auto-doc.ie being reliable, so long as you're not in a rush for your order (I'm not) - I know they're not based in Ireland despite being .ie (Think they're German?)

    (Local not an option)

Appears auto-doc.ie is out of stock anyway so scrap that idea

Misterauto would be worth a look too. They’re owned by Stellantis (the parent company of Peugeot, Opel etc)

Autodoc have an Irish website and an Irish VAT number but they’re based in Berlin. Can’t fault them apart from delivery times.

Note that you’ll need diagnostics equipment to code the new battery to the car.

Cheers. I'd order from auto-doc.ie but item is showing out of stock. I've no problem changing manufacturers of battery, but I know this Varta will slot right in and I really can't be arsed going around measuring the current battery then comparing size with others... yeah, i'm being that lazy about this where i'd prefer to just throw €€ for a like for like (in fairness, current battery is 6 years old and still working fine, just car is throwing a wobbler when left un-locked for the day and constant opening / closing of boot etc.)

They’ll all slot in once they’re the correct fitment. You’ll obviously need to get one that’s compatible with your specific model too. You don’t have to use Varta, for example there’s an Exide equivalent that would be the exact same fitment. This battery size/capacity/chemistry is used across multiple car brands.

If you don’t have the equipment to register the battery to the car then it would be worth considering sourcing it locally and getting it fitted, even though you say locally isn’t an option 😂

I have found Halfords quite competitive for branded batteries, especially if you have a discount via AXA insurance. If you don't have one you might be able to get a friend with one (or better still, with a trade card) to buy it for you.

I have no idea what their own brand batteries are like.

From what I can see, S213 (E Class Estate 2017) doesn't need any 'registering' - Although i'll double check that, cheers.

    I'll check that - I have a trade card

-EDIT- Put the car into their search - no results!

Their own ones are made by Yuasa, I’m not certain they offer the specific battery for the car though.

Trade card discount on big batteries tends to be 20% so well worth finding someone with one. They fit and code for €30

They might be made by yuasa but they are garbage, never seen one make it past the warranty period

I’ve used them in a few cars in the family since Halfords first came to Ireland, maybe I’ve just been lucky. I brought one back when it was slightly out of warranty alright and to be fair they changed it. None of them were stop-start cars or had smart alternators etc. I also know that they do a Yuasa branded range with higher specs for more money than the basic ones.
