How does a filling station justify extortionate prices for items like tea,milk and soft drinks etc?

I suppose as a commercial venture rather than a charity they have an interest in paying their staff wages and also have capital to reinvest into their business, as well as taking a profit out of their business and investing into their pensions.

Which would you do if you owned a petrol station:

1. Charge high prices for the fuel and have a small customer-base and sell very little else?
2. Charge low to medium prices and attract the passing trade and hope that you additionally increase the turnover and profit margin on the sale of a cup of coffee/drinks?

Mullingar in general has alot of ripoff stations compared to most similar sized towns. Other places are able make a profit too go figure
