Operation waiting list how to get off of it

    Hi all,

So basically what the title says. I was waitlisted for thyroid lobectomy a year ago, in December I got a letter from the hospital asking if I still want to be waitlisted for this year and I replied online yes. Since then got 2 different opinions from the specialists (private clinics) and they both said that the operation is unnecessary and that yes it should be monitored but definitely no need for lobectomy. Fast forward to now and I can't get a Mortgage protection because I'm on a wait list for the operation that I wasn't going to do anyway after the second and third opinion. How do I get removed from the waiting list? Who do I call, the hospital, HSE, the doctor that recommended it, my GP? I'm lost...

    Thank you 🙏

I'm sorry I can't help but I understand the frustration. I'm locked into a practice that medically gaslights me and the only information I have managed to glean is that there's no exit date....

This has nothing to do with boards.ie. Moved to a forum that's related to the topic instead.

I don't know the answer re the waitlist but if you are applying for a mortgage I'd check now with your lender whether they will allow you do a 'waiver' of life cover should you not be able to get it or should you be loaded with a high premium, there is provision for these circumstances in the Consumer Credit Act 1995 but banks can decide themselves whether or not to offer it. If your present lender won't then I would try the others just in case it comes to it that you need it to avoid delays.

Contact the secretary of the team/dept who put you on the waiting list.

Contact patient services by email in the hospital. They will send it to the department, you will be contacted almost immediately and taken off list once you confirm your request to be removed.
