Where do you get your gear?

I thought it might be interesting to list where they get their gear to maybe expand other's peoples options etc.

    • Asics Outlet - Have gotten mostly runners from here, but have picked up a couple of bits of clothes too. It's usually quite good value and the often do sales through out the year. Sign up to "OneAsics" (its, basically just and account, it's free) and you get free shipping and extended period for returns (which was also free last I used it.) Deliver time is not the fastest, maybe a week or so.
    • The Run Hub - I'm sure most of you have probably used these already but I just had one order with them and it went well. Just got socks and sunglasses from here, also some jelly beans (sport jelly beans!?) to make up for free deliver. Very fast delivery, ordered in the morning and got delivered next day. Free shipping over E95
    • Decathlon - I've gotten some stuff from there and I think its ok. I wouldn't be expecting too much from their cheapest stuff, I usually find you need to move up to the next level of stuff to get decent quality things (I'm speaking more from non running stuff, maybe not the same for their running gear). I bought online from them during the summer and it was super slow, like 3 weeks. I've picked up a couple more things from there this week so I can update on the delivery times then I guess! Their website is not great ("here is this thing in 8 different colours, but we only actually have two of them in stock, try guess which ones!?") and I find their shop is not the most pleasant sent shopping experience in the world (a lot of similar looking stuff that is not individually priced, so its hard to tell what price the thing your holding is sometimes), but worth calling in if your passing or at Ikea anyways. Free delivery over E100 and free returns to the store for up to a year (I think). Clothes from here are small fitting btw, so I would suggest going a size up.
    • SportsDirect - A lot of my gear is from sports direct, although a lot of it was bought a good while ago at this stage. Their own branded karimor stuff seems ok (if you don't have an issue with a union jack as part of their crest, doesn't bother me), but do not believe for a second their "before" price. Cosmetically the logo has fallen off on a few items and they look a little worse for wear, but they are still functionally holding up fine. They usually have a pretty decent selection of other brands too. Delivery is E10 and is usually about a week. Don't know what returns are like. I assume you can make use of their stores here for deliver and returns but there is none near me.

Can add a couple more to the list:

HpNutrition - Have used them for gels and zero tabs. Prices seem good and no complaints so far on the service. Delivery is quick.

Elverys - Picked up a couple of bits from elverys over the summer and it was a decent experience, at least I don't remember any issues. I got a couple of what I assume is elverys own brand energitics stuff, and it seems pretty good, especially for the discounted price. Free return to stores.

SportsShoes.com - Got an order from them last week and it was pretty quick. No VAT charged on delivery, which was originally one of my concerns with them. Bought a couple of things from them, including from what I assume is their own brand Higher State. They seem decent value for money, but similar to my comments about Karimor and Sports direct, I'm not sure you can pay much attention to the RRP price. Like I got a run jacket that was apparently €150 down to €25, the only way this jacket was ever worth €150 is if there was €100 in the pocket. Like its fine, but just no way it was ever €150

Make sure to change the currency to euro as the prices seemed to stay the same numeric value, as in that jacket was £25 and €25 when switched to euro. Delivery wasn't too expensive and was fairly quick. I didn't have to return anything.

Decathlon update - that previous order from Decathlon came in a much more reasonable time frame, like a week or something. so that 3 week last summer might have been a once off.

    Shoes:

Nike - spring or autumn sales direct from Nike

ASICS Outlet - End of cycle or model sales

Elverys for any voucher purchases very hit and miss with regards stock levels though

    Socks:

Penney's ankle socks work as well as anything. Karimor brand from Sports direct do age well too

    Shorts:

ASICS Outlet or Sportsshoes seasonal sales are usually good for end of line items

    Jackets:

    ASICS Outlet, Nike Outlet

    Gels: H&B, Enervit direct

    Bodyglide : Runhub

Watch: Amazon UK or Argos in the past for Forerunner model offers

When I started running in mid 00's there such a good offering of shops in Dublin along with the traditional sports shops having a good spread as they had a skin in the game with events. Less and less value to be found now on the main street.

Anyone recommend some good kinesiology tape. Have damaged my knee, meniscus tear and taping is really helping. So looking to buy 32 meters but want something tried and tested and that stays in place for a few days as I’ve bought a few rolls of stuff that peels after a few hours. Rocktape is brilliant but too expensive for a large roll. Tia
