Most lenient sentence ever handed down?

    I came across a YouTube video of Lavinia Woodward , a woman in the UK who was spared jail because a judge claimed she was too smart for jail. It brought me back to the lenient sentences handed down in Ireland and I immediately thought of Boy A/B along with another Doctor from Mauritius who punched, kicked, and bit his girlfriend at the time and escaped with a €10,000 donation to charity.

    Are there any more like these?

    The first thing that comes to mind;

    Judge Martin Nolan

    The worst one that comes to mind for me is the drunk-driver in Galway who killed one pedestrian, and left two Gardaí with life changing injuries and he was given community service.

    I cannot fathom what planet the judge was living on. Have a rake of pints, be five times over the limit, get behind the wheel, kill someone and destroy two other lives.

    Community service....

    Thank god the DPP appealed and he was jailed.

    For once, I'm going to agree with an extremely lenient sentence.

    On March 16th, 1984, in front of TV cameras, Gary Plauche pulled out a revolver and shot Jeff Doucet in the head from a few feet away killing him. The video is widely available for those of you who want to see the killing (https://9gag.com/gag/a0ZKY6n). It's not very graphic to be honest so I don't think I'll be in trouble for posting the link. You can't see any gore. For this he got a 7 year suspended sentence and 300 hours community service.

    Why did he shoot Jeff Doucet? Because Doucet abused his 11 year old son for about a year and then he kidnapped the boy and sexually assaulted and molested him some more.

    So, for once, I'm happy that someone got a very lenient sentence.
