    Hi all,

Looking to get an assessment conducted for our 3 yo. The problem is a 2-3 year waiting list publicly, and unable to access privately as all waiting lists seem to be full.?

Happy to pay privately but cannot seem to access the resources. (The likes of ARC in baldoyle north Dublin are full)

Has anyone any experience/ advice / guidance they can offer ?

    Thank you !

*I did search here for similar but couldn't find any threads on it

I’ve found waiting lists everywhere and some places saying they should have a place available in 6 months and never contact you again…..2 places did that to me and of course I believed them so didn’t try other places…..you have to shout the loudest and plague them …

Unfortunately I'm of no help either. It's the same in South Dublin, every speech therapist (if they even get back to you) say that not only are they booked out but their waiting lists are closed. It's so messed up. Not only can you not access speech therapy through the HSE, but you can't even get it privately. My son has turned six and all the online information on autism is that intervention between 3 and 6 is of the utmost importance.

It's so depressing to be trying to do everything right but the set up in this country means your scuppered at every turn.

Thanks JDD, similar findings especially with the private availability, which I found surprising.

I found a private speech and language therapist on www.isti.ie and there was no waiting list at all. That's in Dublin though so maybe it's different in other counties.

We had to wait 3-4 months privately in Limerick. I would try any other towns within reasonable driving distance as specialists could be less busier there. Btw,getting VHI Company level 2 plan for a child (no need to be insured with them yourself) will cover 75% of OT and S&T costs (no waiting time). It costs 37eur pm for a child. S&L therapist must be registered for insurance to cover it.
