Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New Forestry Book

Came across this new publication yesterday. Little or no hype about it. Flew through it. Thoughtful and positive, unlike O'Daltun's extremist tome on "rainforests", a book, to borrow from Dorothy Parker is a book not to be put down lightly but to be flung with the greatest force to the furthest corner of the room.

This little book is not for for the tree huggers as it points out some very inconvenient truths. Written by Paul McMahon, he comes to the conclusion that continuous cover forestry is the way to go. On free draining sites this is a good approach but is not suitable for many other sites. His big failure is not to call out the lack of any leadership amongst the top civil servants who enforce forest policy, and the intellectual bankruptcy of the current Fores Service Inspectorate.
