Trading in car - warning light on dash

Hoping someone here might have some experience to answer my question or give some insight. We’re considering changing our car. The airbag warning light has just appeared on the dash and we plan to take it to the mechanic but wondering is it worth doing if we’re planning to trade in the car anyway. We got the car serviced in October and no issues - this light has just appeared on the dash out of the blue.

Will we get more for the car if that light isn’t on the dash… it’s a 141 Skoda Superb Diesel Estate with about 190k km on it in alright nick, not amazing as it’s a family car.

if you know someone with a scanner like OBDEleven/Carly etc, try and find out what the code is, it may be something simple like a plug going into the seats got disrupted, at the least you can get the code reset and see what happens.

car wouldn’t really be a retail car either way, but they’ll certainly devalue the car for having the airbag light on.

All depends what it wrong with car ie if just wire that got pulled under seat should be cheap fix .but if need a new airbag ect of course garage will give less for car

Get it sorted if u can . Cars ready to retail will get better money in the trade . They may knock a few hundred off just to cover themselves otherwise

Could be something as simple as a faulty passenger airbag on/off switch which is common enough in vw of that era so possibly similar in a Skoda. So no harm if someone could just read the code.

Are the horn and steering wheel buttons working? If not, it's likely to be the clock spring but the only way to be sure is to have the car scanned.
