Importing rifle magazine

Does a 3 shot c/f magazine have to be imported (from eu) through a firearms dealer or can i do it myself? Its a 3 shot plastic magazine for a 308 tikka ctr.

No issue at all.

If it was >10 rounds then it would not be allowed, but since it is 3 you are golden.

No need to ship to a dealer, you can ship it right to your front door.

And no import/export permits required since it is not an essential component part.

Perfect..thanks.The ctr has a ten shot magazine but of no benefit on a hunting rifle imo. I will try the 3 shot anyway.

Does the same still apply for bolt action rifles as 10 shot magazines are available in Ireland?

There’s no issue with 10 shot mags. 11 shot there would be.

The only issue is with magazines which hold more than 10 rounds, which would make the rifle restricted for rimfire rifles, and prohibited for centrefire rifles, the former just requiring a restricted licence, the latter being unobtainable.

So you are fine with 10 round magazines for rifles in Ireland.
