Does "junior" go on birth cert?

    Hi,

Just had a baby boy and we're naming him after myself. Just wondering what we put down as the name when we register.

Its actually not "junior" but the Irish equivalent "óg", as in Sean Óg and Donal Óg.

So is that just a name you refer to them in the family, or is it something that goes on official documents?

    Thanks

Maybe think of the future and what his school/ college/ work friends might call him. And what he might in time think of his own name and identity.

Whatever you have put on the birth cert affects various other official documents in time, even down to passports and booking plane tickets etc

Do you want him to go through life as 'xyz Óg'?
