Can anybody help me find the name of this book?

Hi. I am trying to find the name of a book that I read years ago. Maybe the mid 90s. It was a grim book. All I can remember is that it was based in Dublin in the 70s or 80s. Possibly in Ballymun. A woman in her 20s I think gets pregnant and tries to bring on a miscarriage using gin/whiskey/some such spirit and a hot bath.…

I know its a longshot but if anybody could help I'd be delighted. TIA.
