After reading up and forgetting about the notions of getting a small van, I have decided to keep an eye out for a Civic. From what I gather I should aim for a 1.8 petrol or 2.2 diesel. Long and short of it is I commute on a motorbike but the recent bad weather and change in work rosters means I can pick up a car again. I will do less than 10k per year. I haven't a great budget and also need to factor in getting screwed by insurance. I have up to 8k to play with. Looking at done deal etc alot of the civics are 200k upwards. So is there anything else to look at that rivals the civic for reliability? Should I consider looking up north? My commute will be 120km round trip. A hatchback is preferable.
