Changing a tap

    Hello,

    Can anyone advise me here.

I’m looking to change a tap in my downstairs bathroom. The tap is fed hot water from a combi boiler and cold I assume from the tank in the attic via a pressure pump.

Do I need to turn off the water at the mains (under the stairs) drain the tank in the attic and also turn off the combi boiler before I remove the current tap and swap it out?

    Thanks!

You can buy an aerosol can that will freeze the water in the pipes feeding the tap, allowing you time to replace the tap.

    Never used it myself mind.

there should be a valve along the hot supply pipe going too the basin.turn it off and drain.

if cold side is supplied from a tank in the attic there should be a valve also,as above.

if it’s mains fed sink, turning the stopcock off with turn the water off but you’ll need too drain what’s left in the pipe which is usually very small amount of water.

use an old towel in case anything comes out.
