Electrical considerations for power shower

Just thinking of putting in a power shower. The electrical will only need to run a pump and no heating done by the supply.

What electrical work is required with this?

Can the power shower be run of a plug or does it require its own feed from the consumer unit or will a 12A switched fused spur do off a socket circuit? Or perhaps this needs a 2 pole isolator switch?

Not much point giving instructions as only a REC is allowed do this work

Independent circuit or spur should make no difference but needs 30 mA protection

A power shower needs fusing, whatever manual says (likely 3 amp) and is an appliance so needs local isolation

Do you mean a power shower in the shower or a pump connected to a regular shower? The latter would usually go somewhere central where the pipes are and could require new pipes to be run unless you want all water use to be pumped. The former would require a REC to run the cable (some plumbers will have a REC available to do such work, ask them) and would require an isolating switch.

Funny story when we got out pump installed, plumber used a 5A fuse and it went "dead" one day, turned out the fuse had gone, checking the manual, the max draw was something like 8.2A (stuart turner 4.5 bar negative head pump) so just popped in a 10A and away we went.
