DPF Cleaning

Hello all I have a 2014 avensis 2.0 d4d with a badly clogged DPF the dash lit up like a Xmas tree over the weekend and the car lost power etc. I’m just wondering what I should be paying ballpark to get it cleaned my local indie garage is quoting €800 to take it off and do a full clean surely this is on the dear side?

Had the car six years and never an issue until now I do a lot of long spins but they explained that this can happen as cars get older and ash builds up in the filter.

I see other Dpf centre places quoting much lower costs online. The garage I use is generally fair and has never put me wrong so I’d be surprised if they were price gouging but it really does seem very expensive. I don’t know a lot about the process so giving the benefit of the doubt for now

€350 or so is a fair price. I paid €500 for EGR removal and DPF clean from a specialist in Greenogue. €800 is mad money

Yeah I probably wouldn’t have even queried anything up to €400 but I was really taken aback when he said €800

I wonder is he just taking it off and sending to a third party and taking a nice cut for himself.

Not sure what to do now as the nearest specialist is 90 mins away and I can’t drive the car there
