Food business importing ingredients from the UK, VAT implications?

If someone was importing food form the UK, what do they need to look out for with respect to VAT/duties etc? The products in question would not be resold as is, more so used in the creation of menu items in a small restaurant. EG: Importing hot peppers that would be used to make sauces that are then used on certain menu…

Would there be any difference in buying direct from the manufacturer as opposed to using an Irish Amazon business account?
