Hotpoint Condenser Tumble Dryer Question

    Hi,

This morning a got an urgent call from the wife at 6:30am.

The dryer's not working, and I need my jeans.

I discovered the pump rubber impeller was broken. Easy enough to get at. Technically not an issue.

Picked one up in clondalkin €65 for new pump asm. I'm sure if I had of looked further I could have got the rubber impeller for a few euro.

Anyhow, I replaced the pump asm and everything was fine. Jeans were dried.

I left the maching in the middle of the floor just to be sure everything was ok before putting it back in place.

It was then that I noticed the pump was running continously.

My question, Is this the norm. There is a float activated switch beside the pump. I activated the switch thinking this might turn the pump off, but it did'nt.

I think it just indicated if the tank is full.

I disconnected the switch and the pump still ran. (It's a 220v pump. For info)

Does anyone know if this is correct. Should the pump run continously like this.

This is the pump asm type I have.

    All contributions appreciated.

    Jim.

Pump shouldn’t run continuously, it is activated by float switch, if it runs with the wires off the micro switch you have mixed up the wiring. Did you take a photo before you started if so refer back. If you google the Hotpoint model for a diagram you will see where the wires go.Also clean out the sludge if any in pump reservoir to prevent further damage

    Hi Red Ace.

The connectors on the switch and pump are keyed, so you can't put them in the incorrect position.

There is no sludge left in the reservoir.

    Thanks for your input.

If it has all the water pumped up and the pump is still running one of two things are causing it, the aero board float is stuck on or the micro switch is faulty, you would need a meter to check switch operation
