    What is this format?

is it both drive, both play our own 2nd shots, pick the best positioned ball and then alternate shots after that?

    to settle an argument.........

Greensomes, also known as "Scotch foursomes", follows the same format as foursomes except that both players tee off on every hole. The better ball is chosen and alternate strokes are then played to complete the hole.

Never heard of double foursomes , interesting if two shots are played before alternate shots kicks in

    • Ahhhh. I believe what you're referring to is Pinehurst Foursomes where both players tee off, then they switch their play of golf balls, meaning Player A plays Player B’s ball, and Player B plays Player A’s ball. After the second shots, they then select which ball they will continue to play, and that ball is then played by alternate-shot until holed.

Never heard of double foresomes either. That pinehurst version sounds a bit much imo. Take to long for starters

Player A & B playing together, both tee off and they hit their partner's ball for their 2nd shot, after 2 shots have been played they chose the best option and regular foursomes from there.

Player A tees off, Player B tees off

Player A hits Player's B ball for the 2nd shot.

Player B hit Player's A ball for the 2nd shot.

Select a ball, if it is Player A's ball then he/she hits the 3rd shot, Player b the 4th shot and so on till it is holed.
