    hi folks,

just wondering how many people get someone in to empty their domestic grease trap, how much do they charge ?

or for people who empty their own grease trap, is there a better way of doing it than what im currently doing ? i use a plastic sieve to get the grease out, which i then place into a black plastic bag, which i then chuck in the general waste bin, its an extremely messy job :(

When you say domestic grease trap, do you mean the u bend in the gulley outside where kitchen sink drains?

How much grease are you putting down the sink that its an issue? Most of my grease or oil will go in the brown bin, if solid gets scooped into kitchen caddy with other organic waste, if liquid will try pour it over some dry organic waste that will soak it up e.g. stale bread.

i have a jfc grease trap, we're pretty good with not letting grease down the sink, but after a couple of months grease does build up in the grease trap

    Grease trap?

We have gotten Walshe waste to clear out the grease trap once or twice when we got them into to do the septic tank. Not sure if it was just the fellas being sound or what but they didn't charge anything extra for it. It was €250 or something for the call out.

For people asking about the "grease trap", we have a septic tank that basically all our bathroom water does into and then we have a separate system that we at least call a grease trap, that the kitchen sink and washing machine go to

If it’s a Jfc one it should have a bucket on a handle sitting in the bottom of it. The whole bucket comes out and in to a heavy gauge bag. Still stinks but better that scooping it out

do you just chuck the bag into the non recycling bin then ?

Ya. It should be able to go in compost bin as well since it’s just water and food waste in it but those green biodegradable bags aren’t the strongest to be holding about 10kg. And it stinks if it leaks
