    There's buttons at the bottom of the reply box to either upload a picture, or link to one hosted elsewhere.

    Earlier when I tried to post a photo, it said that I had to have permission.

    You're hitting the anti-spam measure. Your account needs 5 posts minimum before you can post a link. That's usually enough for any spambots to reveal their nature before they can push their dodgy links.
