Internal insulated slab. Batton or not ?

So I'm having the internal walls on the gable end of our semi D insulated and new front door fitted. Just wondering what is best practice for the insulated slabs. I've had work done on other areas of the house, some with buttons behind the slab on a very small extension and the draught between the back of the slab and outer block is cruel but it doesn't come through the slab. Not overly happy with the heat retention.

I did all of our bedrooms and took it all down to bare cavity block and using fixings to go straight onto the block, no battons and I'm really happy with the heat retention. Without rambling what is best practice. Batton/dot dab or fixings
