Opel plan for a new Insignia (2025)

Since PSA brought Opel back in March 2017, I did wonder what would PSA (now Stellantis) do with the Insignia with sales dropping in this segment of the market, rumours the Mondeo and the Passat where going to be dropped from Ford and VW's ranges. Would they even replace it, or would the next Insignia be based on a 508 similar to the 208 / Corsa or 308 / Astra? Last year the Insignia vanished from showrooms and I though will that's that, this segment is dying fast, SUV's are the only show in town, the Grandland / 3008 is the new champ, but now Stellantis have recently launched the Citroen C5X and the Peugeot 408 in a "new" segment of the market. It was then obvious that Opel would probably have their own model. Interestingly Opel are planning to use the Insignia name for this new car.

Here's an article from Auto Express

Below are a few artistic photos of what the model might look like (based on a 408, I think), I can also see potential for a bigger DS too.

Makes sense I suppose. Not a bad looking render. Have to wonder will it look anything like that if it does happen?

I see Peugeot have just revamped the 508.

It will probably go the same way too for its next model.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
