    Hi there,

Is there any work around to block the ads on the YouTube app?

So I could also access youtube via chrome on my Android phone instead of the App. Maybe there is a way to use an Android Chrome adblocker to watch you tube through chrome sans adds?

    Thanks for any ideas

Not sure how possible it is via adblocker but there are plenty of apps out there which do this. Look up youtube vanced (advanced without the 'ad'), smarttube and similar.

I have been using mobile phones for about 25 years at this stage. One of my first smartphones was the original Samsung Galaxy S, and when I upgraded to a newer model, the youtube app lost plenty of the functionality that came with the previous versions. Things like being able to play music videos while the phone was locked etc. I transferred the original youtube APK file over from the Galaxy S to the new phone and didn't update it so I could keep going as I used to. I did this up until the S4 mini (I think) when it stopped working altogether. Now this feature (and quite a few more) are hidden behind their Youtube red premium subscription service.
