Suspect Chinese Vendor

    Hi All.

I purchased a replacement laptop battery from a seller who appeared to be based in Ireland, when I received the invoice by email I discovered that it is actually a Chinese vendor. I then done a bit of research and it seams the company are well known for performing scams, I know I should have checked this before placing the order.

Apparently what they do is send out fake/counterfeit goods. When the buyer starts a dispute through PayPal then PayPal require the buyer to return the item by registered post to China, obviously at considerable cost to the buyer . PayPal will then only refund with proof of delivery to the vendor, which either takes a long time or never ends up happening, lots of failed delivery attempts.

As I've only placed the order today and it will probable take weeks for the item to arrive, if it even does, Is there anything I can do in the mean time to try get a refund? The PayPal transaction was done through my debit card.

I am trying that, but after reading other reviews I’m not too confident.

email vendor telling them you changed your mind. under distance selling regulations you have a cool off period where you can change your mind.

if you get no response then follow up with bank to revert payment.

What platform are you using - eBay or what?

No platform, just a website, I would usually only use Amazon but they had no shipping to Ireland for the item.

You can't post faulty batteries out of Ireland. If you can't cancel the order report it as faulty and they have to refund you.

Can you point people in the direction of these Chinese regulations?

They must be very recent as I've seen nothing about them.

Maybe you are thinking of EU regulations? China is not in the EU

Cheers everyone, I've contacted them through the contact page on the website and sent a few mails requesting them to cancel the order, I'll see how it goes.
