I had to get out of the car so didn't listen to the segment, will give it a listen this evening if I can find the playback on their site.

Given that Kenny has been using a motorbike, he is hardly ignorant of the benefits. There will be other less balanced coverage than this segment.

Kenny does the same crap in terms of cyclists. Most of his listeners will drive and its an easy market to stir up and get a (usually one sided) conversation flowing.

I catch the repeat of the morning show most nights at midnight when working in the cave, find talk shows more relaxing than music at night. Will tune in to hear his opinion on two wheels commuting!

"Donor Cycles", imagine talking to somebody whos lost a person in a car crash and telling they bough the ticket when it comes to driving "Donor Carbabs". FFS like, cant stand that **** and a "transport cunsultant" who agrees with that is some joke in fairness.

Newstalk has form for anti-cyclist rants, so it's not surprising if they also have an agenda when bit comes to other non-car modes.

A significant proportion of their advertising comes from the car lobby. Same with RTE news and most news media.

I thought it was very good. As a cyclist and motorist I had never thought of roads from a bikers perspective. From that I mean right handed bends, potholes, manholes, leaning rather than steering, protective clothing, left turning motorists .

I think this segment was helpful for those of us who don't ride bikes, educational and promotes awareness as a motorist of what bikers face. Also Pat Kenny himself is a biker so is not exactly without experience himself.

It would certainly make me more aware of bikers from now on. Surely that was the whole point of it?

Didn't hear any of what you describe in the piece - it was mainly stating the statistical realities of driving a motorbike, and hopefully the programme made the majority of the car-driving listenership more bike aware/conscious.
