Waterproofing phone when mounted to a bike

I've been using a mount and case from this crowd for the last year or so Cases - Quad Lock® Europe - Official Store (quadlockcase.eu)

I fine it absolutely perfect for what I need my only issue is the price. I recently got a new phone so instead of having to buy a new case and poncho from them which would of cost nearly 60 euro I just bought a cheap case and a universal adapter. So I used it for the first time this morning grand no issues! My only problem is the rain proof poncho they sell will only fit the case its meant to go with typical money grabbing crap.

So I've currently no protection if it rains for my phone on my bike. I'm trying to think of a cheap hassle free method to cover the front and back of the phone but still be able to mount it as usual. Has anyone tried cling film for example?

Zip lock bag if it starts raining? I'd be concerned about Cling film causing the phone to overheat

I never taught about overheating to be honest I don't know how much it would change in say an hour. If I used a bag id have to cut a hole in it where the mount locks into the case. Its a pain in the arse that there poncho covers don't go over standard cases. I don't wanna buy one and take a chance.

I can't see a generic waterproof cover playing nice with the mount system you're using (unless it's some sort of clamp system)

My phone would be to big (Samsung s23 ultra) for starters I kinda don't wanna move away from the mount I'm using as its small and works perfectly otherwise. I'm just looking for something quick and simple I can lash over the phone and still be able to mount it to my current setup.

For it to be waterproof, it has to be sealed.

How would you seal it around the mount and handlebar?

Can you post a photo of your current mount?

I wouldn't mount an expensive phone to a bicycle. It can wreck the OIS in the camera.

I do it on a motorbike, but there's a bit more suspension there.

Yeah, like I said, I can't see how you'd get a generic waterproof cover to work with that. The back would need to be open to allow the mount system to work

You could try a ziplock food bag, the plastic might be light enough to let you lock the phone in place through the bag?

I actually just made a makeshift cover for it with one of those plastic covers and a few elastic bands haha it does the job but now I'm worried about what Explosive Cornflake mentioned above!! I have to look into it further. I've been using one of these for a year now and I don't think it ever caused issues to my phone camera but I dunno!

I cant find anything online about bicycles having this issue they always just mention motorbikes because of there heavy vibrations anyway. Its obviously gonna be on my mind now but if it is an issue on road bikes as well why would they sell these and have them endorsed by cyclists?

I hear this a lot but have yet to meet or hear of someone this has actually happened to. I wouldn't mount my phone to my bike as if the lock fails, that's the phone gone bye bye but I always wonder about the camera and vibrations thing, as I see tons of people using them and all seemingly without issue

Thanks for the heads up on the vibration issue I would never of taught of that and I've been using my main phone on the bike for the last year or more.

I'm gonna just use an old phone I have no one uses will cost me more than I planned but guess wont need to worry then damaging expensive phone.

Yeah I seen they sell that but its designed for a motorbike mainly I imagine it would be a pain in the hole to put on a road bike.

The S23 phone is IP68 rated for water resistance so any additional protection such as the aforementioned zip lock bag should be more than enough protection.
