Bord Na Mona - disgusting service and I feel powerless. What resources do I have?

    Hi there,

I live in the country and the only company offering a waste disposal service here is Bord Na Mona. (isn't this monopoly? anyways...)

I've been living here for a few months but in the last 2 months something is going on and I don't understand what is happening.

Problem: They either don't pick up the bin or they directly take the bin altogether and I have to store rubbish for 2 weeks.

When I call them they say that everything is in order, I don't have outstanding payments and they didn't understand what happened. If I ask for them to pick up the bin, they say someone will pick it up in 48 hours and that never happens or directly they say "I have to send an email and I need approval but I don't know how long is gonna take" and obviously they never call back or do anything.

When the problem is that the bin is missing, they send another in 4 to 6 working days (they do but again I have to store the rubbish in the meanwhile).

This is driving me nuts to the point that I was thinking of getting the bin and dumping it in their offices to get some sort of reaction.

What can I do? I can't change company because there is no other and they just keep laughing at me. Can I sue them? Can I report this somewhere?

I don't think they care much about google reviews, they are absolutely wrecked there.

There seems to either have been a major clear out or new peoceedures put in place over the past 6/7 years in BNM Waste because their CS is gone to the dogs.

Is there a County Council Amenity/Recycling centre near you? Some times there is a waste skip where you can dispose of a bag for a fee....

oh no way... seriously my only alternative is to dispose of the rubbish myself? There is nothing near me but I'm paying these gobs***** to do it...

My speculation is that their costs drastically increased due to fuel prices and staff shortages (need to pay bigger wages to keep staff, especially, the drivers), office expenses, electricity etc... Making long distances to collect few bins is a challenge to make it profitable. Mistakenly taking a bin altogether is probably a bad training, low skills employee, or someone not happy about their job (bad pay?). Not sure if there is any restrictions for them to have a higher price, maybe there are some sort of contractual agreements with councils or price ceiling? They probably provide service equally they get paid for plus not being stressed too much due to a lack of competition... Sounds to be right to me. There are cons and pros living in a country side.

Still think it is not ok and I'm flabbergasted at how unprotected the consumer is

Avoid, avoid, avoid ! At all cost !

These guys actually make Eir customer service look 5 star.

If you have an issue or query - expect to be waiting min 35min on hold, then to be told sorry we need to check matter with supervisor, by the way they have 3-5day call back policy ! They are complete shambles of a company

And they bill your account and don't inform you. An absolute shower.

And their website still shows the wrong balance. Someone's obviously tried to patch the value in javascript and made a hames of it.
