Motor valve stopped working

Hot water stopped working via the gas boiler. Both on timer and when turning on manually. Eventually figured out that if I activate the manual switch on the motor valve then it comes on.

Does this mean that the motor valve powerhead just needs to be replaced? Called 2 plumbers and neither showed so if I can be confident that's the problem then I'll just go ahead and try replacing it myself.

What type of valve is it? EPH or another brand? Did you move it to the manual position and did the boiler then fire-up?

If (with the head off) the valve body spindle moves fairly freely, then just change the head, like for like. Remember you will have live wires, even with the heating off. Test for power after turning off at the spur or consumer unit.

    Siemens DVA2/5

Yeah, when I move it to manual the boiler fires up and the water starts heating.

Looks like you need to change the valve itself. It's 10 minute task and you can do it by yourself as long as you turn off the power. Just take picture which cable goes where at the beginning and that's all.
