Long wait times at Toyota Service Center

Deansgrange Service Centre (and Sandyford as I was told) has about two months waiting time for regular service. I was there yesterday and they offerd me 8th of April for intermediate service. Still no panic as I did 9500km but I was thinking to go to my trusted mechanic just to change oil.

I bought my car in December as a demo car so I got a year warranty. Would be an issue if this service will be done in different place than Toyota? I was thinking also if it make sense to bother about this warranty with service centre prices. Any advise, please?

Have you done 9,500km since December? Servicing elsewhere shouldn’t effect the warranty, but I’d have no problem waiting until April for the service, are you likely to exceed 20,000 km’s by then?

Actually a more important question would be are you likely to exceed the recommended service interval?

I bought it as a demo car. It had 7k in December.

Toyota says 15,000 for hybrid ( I have hybrid Touring Sports) but I always serviced my cars every 10,000 km.

Using MyT app I was able to to book next Monday but no specific time given. Just got an email that they will contact me soon. Will see.

Ah okay, I was thinking maybe you were a taxi driver. Its up to you really, but I think with it being a new car then you’d be better having a full Toyota service history. I’d rather see a car serviced at 11,000km from Toyota than 9,500km from an independent

15000km is a conservative interval already, no need to be doing at 10k.

Did ot get an oil change when you bought it?

Did not ask dealer about that. I presume it did not.

They usually wouldn’t back when I sold them anyway unless the customer specifically asked for it.

For the sake of your hybrid warranty I’d stick to Toyota dealers, and not go too far more over the 15k interval.

If you go to no Toyota garage you need to ensure genuine Toyota filter and Toyota recommended oil are used and you need to keep proof of this to keep warranty.

It's a general issue with many garages now, shortage of mechanics and January is peak service/new car/nct repair time of year. Book future services well in advance and shop around as prices may vary by dealer

Yeah, I did not expect that. Was naive enough to think I will book next week date. ☺️

Toyota will also do a free hybrid systems check which goes through the whole drivetrain, including the traction battery. When I had a Toyota Hybrid, I would get another year's warranty on the "EV" components every time I serviced the car through the dealer so it was worth my while.

Stick with Toyota and you will be fine. I have had to wait up to 2 months before for a service (even 3 years ago, pre-Covid), so it is not unusual of a wait in my experience. Seems to be the same with most main dealers now anyway for servicing.

I had the same experience with a Toyota dealer in Cork. I rang at the start of Feb just looking for an Intermediate service - earliest date I could get was 20th March...

What happens if you go slightly over the mileage allowance before a service? I'm booked in start of July and i'm about 400km from the 26k mileage point. Will it cause an issue if i go over it? They could only fit me in at the start of July when I phoned a few weeks ago.
