Self Connecting Aer Lingus Query

I am booking an Aer Lingus return flight from Shannon to Nashville and I have a €500 voucher from a past cancelled COVID flight back in 2020.

I am unable to use the voucher towards this trip as it has a connecting flights to & from Boston to Nashville with Jet Blue.

I am travelling with just hand luggage, will I run into any problems using the exact same connecting flights if I book them myself via Jet Blue?

I can then use my voucher for the Aer Lingus legs of the journey as it'll save me shelling out €750

I dont think that you would, but you will have to come out and check in again with Jet Blue go back through security and self transfer through the airport etc. Also any delay and you wont be covered if you miss your second flight with Jet Blue.

Thanks for that, if that's the case it's not worth the hassle, I was hoping by not having a checked bag I might be ok.

    Thanks for the heads up!

It won't be a protected connection on separate tickets.

If you haven't already booked the DUB/BOS flights, I'd take a look at flying into JFK. They have more flights to BNA and a lot more non-stop flights. Unfortunately, they won't link the 2 tickets.

What you propose is called 'nesting' and I've done it many times. Ensure you have plenty of time between flights and if possible, factor in an overnight before your 2nd flight.

Aer Lingus use terminal C at Boston Logan which is the same terminal as JetBlue. If you only have hand luggage, and you do pre-cleareance in Shannon, you'll arrive into the departures area of Terminal C. All you have to do is walk to your BNA gate. No need to even do security.
