Bought this around 2008 and son had been using but its now 'out of action'. My wife would like to use for googling and emails. Is it worth repairing and where in Dublin would I get that service? Particularly has anyone any recommends. Ditto my wife bought a Macbook around same time but it was left in strong sun light and the case has bulged, possibly the battery has melted/expanded. Would have same usage as iMac but is it worth repairing?

    Thanks

A bulging battery is a fire risk. You would need to get that replaced or safely disposed of in the recycling center. Even if you keep the laptop. Get rid of the battery soon as you can. Often damages the case or laptop.

You can bring them back to life. They might be a bit slow though. They are quite old. Browsing the web requires a decent amount of oompff.

Dunno who repairs Macs. I suspect most will tell you it's not worth it as they are too old. There are groups on the internet that keep these old machines going. Low End Macs on Facebook for example.

There are ways and means to keep using old machines useful. Within limits. The cpus. These machines will struggle.
