Outdoor 3 pin socket

    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered a thousand times but recent searches didn’t throw anything up.

Looking to install a charging socket for my PHEV.

I have an unused socket in the attic, fed by a 2.5 sqmm cable from a dedicated 20A RCBO. It would be a fairly simple job to spur off this and run a cable through the eves, down along a down pipe and mount a standard IP rated 3 pin socket at the front of the house, right beside the driveway. The car only has a 12KWh battery so that is more than sufficient to fully charge it overnight.

The only question that remains is that of security. What is to stop someone tampering with such a standard socket? Or should that even be a concern of mine? Interested to hear others that have a similar setup.

    Thanks
