Sky Glass Introductory offers

I signed up for Sky Glass pre-launch and took a load of services as everything was half price and they were adding credit to the account as well.

The initial offers expire around now so I cancelled a bunch of stuff in the last few days. I expected something similar to the experience when you cancel

their normal service, some attempt to keep you and offers of lower prices, but nothing was mentioned.

Anyway, today I checked my account in the app and it looks like the initial offers are back in there for me to sign up to again, so its worth cancelling for sure.

They know that it’s much harder for Sky Glass customers to cancel outright. They want you to take the HP contracts that tie you in for years. If you have bought it outright then you’ve got a TV totally built around one providers service and while it’s usable with other services (or with an external STB) you won’t be getting the experience you paid for if you go down that route. So yeah, less effort to keep you as a customer.

Has Sky Glass taken off in Ireland?

It suits certain niches. People living in apartments.

    It definitely isn't for me.

I don't think its selling in large numbers. The lack of recording is a deal breaker for some, but I used to have a receiver with a hard drive and never

    recorded.

Right now I like in a place that doesn't allow dishes, and I needed a new TV anyway, then guy offered me 200 off the TV and negative interest is I took it over two years. If I ever decide to cancel Sky the TV works just fine with an my Apple TV.

Your the type of person I was thinking would go for it. That being one living in an Apartment.

Rural Ireland where I am. Is very much dish land. Most get Sky Q out of conveconvenience or Saorview plus freesat.

May you have many happy years watching TV on your new set.

They need to release Sky Stream here. It is a much more appealing option than Sky Glass but is currently UK only.

Yeah, I'm not sure why there is a hold up. However, there are some Irish specific problems with the service. You can't manage your account online, for the first few weeks I could turn services on and off instantly but its been down for months now and I have to 'talk' to someone over their SMS service is I want to change something. So maybe there are technical reasons.
