Iphone 12 not turning on

I was gifted a second hand iPhone 12 a few weeks ago. It seems to have had the screen replaced, but all grand until last night. It stopped recognising my face so I thought the best thing was to turn on and off. Well it turned off, but won't turn back on. It keeps flashing the Apple logo at me.

I can't do a restore from iTunes because it won't recognise the phone. I've tried holding down the Vol up and Unlock button. I've tried Vol up, Vol down, unlock. I've tried swearing at it and threatening it with a big hammer. None of them were any use.

I don't live near any Apple shop. Please advise.

I just tried one more time and it seems to be working! Fingers crossed for an easy restore
