    Hi,

Has anyone had a custom made MAD recently. Just looking to see what prices are like.

I got a quote for €1300 after having a consultation just wanted to see if the price is in line with what should be expected.

Also for anyone that got on how did they find using it and curing snoring. My lower draw drops back causing mine so it should work to help solve mine.

    Cheers

    Rob

I've worn a MAD appliance for the last eight years. It was prescribed by a respiratory consultant for the treatment of mild to moderate sleep apnea. That is what the device is supposed to do. Most of the time it will reduce snoring in doing this.

I have found it fantastic , it did what it was supposed to do.

    However there are drawbacks.

-It can affect the way your teeth meet in the long term. There are exercises to help mitigate it.

-It can exacerbate any existing or undiagnosed joint issues.

-you need teeth. Preferably healthy ones.

-The appliance can break and does not last forever. You can expect it replace it every 5 years.

As regards to cost I cannot comment. I have seen prices as low as 300euro and as high as 3500euro.

Even though the question is asked in the Dental issues forum and a Dentist facilitates the fabrication of the appliance. A Dentist cannot prescribe the device. The qualified Medical specialist is the prescriber.
