i have 2 gigablue trio 4k boxes with each taking a 28.2 sat connection and a saorview aerial connection.

i've noticed that the irish channels experience video/frame lag when i switch to them. i.e. slo-mo for a second or two.

the satellite channels don't exhibit this behaviour.

same behaviour exhibited on hd and non channels. doesn't matter if i switch from a saorview channel to a saorview channel or satellite to saorview or saorview to satellite.

    same behaviour persists.

no massive difference in bitrates involved.

both saorview and sat have what i thought were stong signals(sat SNR = 100%,db:17.25), saorview SNR = 82%/dB: 35. not sure if this is cause. both picture perfect at these values.

just wondering if anyone else has experienced this ?

k, just experience the momentary lag on a sat channel. maybe it is bitrate and codec related.

I have a VU+Duo 4K SE , and sometimes get this when switching from a 1920 x 1080 Satellite channel to a saorview HD channel , which are 1440 x 1080 ..... something to do with adjusting for the resolution is what I have always assumed.

If it is just the first time you switch to Saorview, then it probably is to do with the resolution change.

I.e. if you are already on RTE1 and switch to RTE2, is there a lag?

You could try and set a fixed resolution in the Video Settings (e.g. 720p for everything).
