Can I set up as a Sole trader whilst claiming Jobseekers Benefit?

I'm finishing up in my job and will be applying for Jobseekers Benefit shortly.

I have a bit of a business idea for self employment. It doesn't require much investment to get it started. But I've no idea how long it'd take to start earning any income from it, or if I'll ever make any income. I'd still keep looking for another job just in case it didn't take off.

But can I set myself up as self employed (sole trader) while claiming Jobseekers Benefit? Or would the Jobseekers claim be cancelled? If it were allowed and I were to get a day or two's work initially, would I just let Jobseekers know and they'd reduce my claim amount by the 1 or 2 days for that week?

Just learned about the STEA from another thread. Presumably this would be the way for me to go, if they were to accept my business idea?
