Quick question, I was looking at phones online and came across some phone for sale that had an extra charge for Anti-Virus software. Do you need to buy a anti-virus software for a smart phone ?

Current "phone" is no longer conventional phone , mini computer. You have mail and other applications on it, you have browser.

If you don't do sh1t on it you don't really need AV.

Cheaper to "buy" a free sub for whatever length of time

I use a combination of Adguard and Kaspersky myself - the latter is a multi-install license that I have on the PC/laptop as well.
