Gas Meter Reading / Extortionate Bill Janurary

    Hi all,

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong area!

Received our gas bill this month and it was just over 1100 euro! Usual bill would be around the 200-300 for a two month period (detached bungalow, 3 bed)

I rang them up to query the high bill and they looked into the previous meter readings/bills and said nothing unusual and that it may well be a 'catch-up' bill.

We regularly submit meter readings and the last actual reading was carried out in September 22.

Question is, I received a call from GMC about 3 weeks ago informing me that there will be works carried out on the meter as a safety precaution. Was very vague when I asked what the works would involve but all they could tell me was that the valve needed replacing. I rang gas networks up after works were carried out to query the works again and he listed a few things that had been done (don't have to hand at the moment) but seemed safety related. All of our neighbours have had the works carried out also.

When the works were carried out, is there any way gas could have been lost? It just doesn't add up.

One of our neighbours have received their most recent gas bill and it has tripled in price, they received it yesterday.

Cannot access bill to get exact units as Energia have taken the 1100 euro bill down so cannot access it, will have to ring again on Tuesday.

Is there anyone else in a similar situation?

    TIA
