Omega Geneve messing - pic heavy thread

Had a spare hour so spent a bit of time messing around.

Observations - would benefit greatly from a service and clean but all looks very original aside from the crown. I suspect that its not OEM as there is no logo on it and it doesn't give me a sense of being quality and its skewed. Some dirt and debris on the dial and the marks and hands show signs or corrosion and oxidation due to age. To be expected on a watch from the early 70's.

Inside the mechanicals look good although one cog seems to have a little surface corrosion. The seal around the case is old and should be replaced and there is what looks like a watchmakers signature on teh inside of case back but aside from a guess at April 84 I haven't a clue. I also don't inderstand the OM 1022 on the weight? I wonder did that come from a 1022 movement?

New strap should arrive tomorrow so will get that on and see how it keeps time for a while. I'll order some of the poly watch stuff and try and improve the plexi but there is a small chip around the 12 position so won't be going to mad with it. Case all looks symetrical and shows wear and tear, It may never have had a serious polish as eveything looks normal and symetrical.

Anyway here are a few pics of the face, really like the texture in teh date wheel. Its not a very exciting watch as watches go but a nice thing all the same. It will never be worth a lot of money so unsure yet as to how I will proceed with it. Enjoy

And the dodgy strap and "Omega buckle". To be replaced with a black alligator from Barton which hopefully fits and looks a lot better.

Just a guess here, but would the "Ge 70" be gennaio 1970 - January 1970?

Could be, although it was listed as a 1973 but who knows?
